As 2023 continues, there might be a number of activities and resolutions you have planned. Perhaps you finally want to take advantage of the return to normalcy following the global pandemic and get out and experience nature. There’s a whole new world of excitement waiting for you, and the town of Marble, CO, provides a wealth of opportunities for adventure. Join us today as we take a look at what awaits you.

A Town Away from Technology
Marble is truly a wonder to behold. With an elevation of almost 8,000 feet, you could say this is where high altitude and adventure join together. One of the things that make Marble such a unique location to visit is that it’s a place that’s completely divorced from our high-tech world. Your cell phone won’t work here, and there’s only one pay phone to be found within the entire community. This means you have the opportunity to commune with nature up close and personal and take a moment to reflect on its grandeur and beauty.
Experience History
Marble was founded in 1899, and much of the town remains unchanged. Named for the enormous marble quarry that rests at an elevation of 9,500 ft, Marble eventually became a ghost town during World War Two. However, visitors can still visit the old mill that once operated. Since the 1960s, much of the old town has been restored to its original form, and there’s also a wide variety of recreational activities to undertake during your visit.
Attractions Too Good to Refuse
When you visit Marble, there’s no shortage of activities. If you’re looking to do some off-roading, we recommend the old mining road that connects Marble and Crystal city together. The eleven-mile trek attracts enthusiasts from all over the country. The Mill and old ghost town of Marble is just six miles from present-day Marble and can be accessed with a 4WD vehicle.
If your trip to marble includes the whole family, you might want to think about having a picnic at Geneva Lake. While it tends to be crowded during the summer months, there are several opportunities for fishing and backpacking. Geneva Lake includes a beautiful hiking and off-roading experience with a 4.2-mile trail. For those who want to experience one of the best hiking experiences, Avalanche Pass is over seven miles (round trip) and contains some of the most breathtaking scenery imaginable.
